Your Invitation to the 5th International
Wine & Heart Health Summit

The low incidence of cardiovascular disease in Mediterranean Europe has been attributed to the salutary effect of moderate daily red wine consumption. This observation has led to a wealth of compelling clinical studies and editorial literature espousing the robust relationship of red wine to a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease as well as other chronic illnesses, and a longer life.

The Desert Heart Foundation has facilitated the gathering of the world's leading experts on wine and health, and has sponsored the International Wine & Heart Health Summit, since 2001. Historically, the “Summit” has been held in Napa Valley, home to America's most celebrated vineyards and wineries. The Renaud Society, a fraternity of medical professionals with an interest in better health and a passion for wine, proudly sponsors this biannual event.

Washington State, and the Walla Walla region, has emerged as an important viticulture region on the world stage. Fruity white wines reminiscent of Rhone satellites and the central California coastal regions, and serious red wines that challenge Napa, as well as the Bordeaux and Hermitage regions of France, test your senses and present excitement and value to all wine enthusiasts.

An eclectic intermingling of science, clinical topics, and wine appreciation, highlighted by exclusive wine events, open cellars & winemaker participation, and gala wine & food venues with special wines, ceremonial regalia, exclusive wine auctions, and much more, awaits you at the 5th International Wine & Heart Health Summit, to be held at the Historic Marcus Whitman Hotel, Walla Walla, Washington: July 15 – 18, 2009.
